The basic difference between the CV and a resume is the content. The resume is a short gist of the person's professional and educational detail that he/she mentioned. When you are asked to present you resume it must have the details but the details must be in synopsis. The interviewer will just go through the resume and get an idea of what the person has achieved in the professional and academic background. The length of the resume will not be more than two pages.

A CV on the other hand will give you more details about the person’s academic background. It can contain details like the school/college awards, honors, affiliation and similar such information. It will give a detailed picture about the academic background on the person who has to apply for the job.

Like the resume the CV will contain the personal detail of the person, like full name, contact details, school colleges from where he/she has passed out what are the distinctions and certificates that he/she has received.

While mentioning the details in the CV, they must be in certain order starting from your highest qualification and the associated recognitions that you have gained.

If you have performed any research work under a professor then you must mention all the details of the work and the name of the subject in which you have done the research. These details will help the interviewer to get a clear picture. Even in case of a sample nurse resume you must mention the institution in which you have done the internship and thus giving all the related details.

Knowing the basic difference between a CV and a resume will help you work in the right direction.
